Growth Factors

Growth factors are naturally occurring substances capable of stimulating cellular growth, proliferation, cellular differentiation and most importantly, healing.  Normally found as a protein or hormone, growth factors are incredible when clinically applied to dental surgeries.  BioXclude amnion chorion allograft contains numerous growth factors which is released over time during the wound healing process.

BioXclude Growth Factors:

1) Extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins: Laminin, laminin-5, proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans, which drive cell-attachment, migration, and subsequent organization.
2) Healing growth factors: Epidermal growth factor (EGF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF), platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which stimulate angiogenesis.
3) Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs):  TIMPs inhibit metalloproteinase activity and matrix degradation.
4) Interleukins: Regulates aspects of the immune system such as stimulating the growth and differentiation of T and B cells.

BioXclude is suited to help orchestrate the complex process of wound healing.  The presence of these biological growth factors gives BioXclude a healing potential not found in traditional barrier membranes.  Other recombinant growth factor products that rely on an extremely high concentration of a single protein to stimulate healing will be lacking in other necessary growth factors. Thus, BioXclude provides the benefits of both a growth factor and a barrier membrane.
